Joey Graduated?

Graduation, Liquidation, and a cocktail or two.
We had our fun- a lil' too much sun, and multiple trips to the loo.
Times not to forget- like dancing all night, the girl in brown and Greg in a hedge or two...
uh... never mind.

Ear to ears we had for 5 days
We lived the life of Joey D and his inspiring ways.
With his college days almost complete
He perfected his dance moves -trust me, he's got us all beat.

With nearly straight A's - he survived the trek
Through smelly libraries and sleepovers on his deck
He marched across stage with cap, gown, board shorts, flips and a smile Finally he's done... real world?? I think he's in denial.

None the less we are proud of you Joey D.
You will be successful wherever that may be.

But for now go spend your grad money, and bronze in the sun
Cause you my brother, have my permission to have some fun!

It's always a treat

It's always a treat when her Hillary goes to visit.
They eat good food which was exquisite.
With the sun shinning bright - a brilliant plan to make them dance!
To pack nuts and chocolate in their ski pants.
Alas they would melt, next hide them in snow
so later they would have a chocolate nut cluster to show.
Hillary, Colin and LD compare treats on ever chair
To see whose treat was melting in delicious despair.
But that day on the hill they had to leave early
unfortunately, their treats had not melted for surely.

"Next time we will do away with chocolate chips!
They do not melt with hot heat next to our hips!"

A brilliant and genius plan to perfect
The friends smiled and nodded yes.

So now when you wonder why we like skiing and snowboarding so much
It's so we can have nuts and chocolate- for lunch.

Snow Packed Fun!

This week has been- yes I know... another adventure for Linsey. Shocking!
More skiing... more skiing... and yes more skiing.

And wait there is more......I am WORKING!!! on payroll and working for Mammoth Lakes Trails and Public Acess Foundation. (MLTPA.org). I love it! I am learning all about maps and trails systems. On top of that the boss wanted to set up a new network with apple server so I learned how to do that, replace computer parts and lay cable. So much fun! Oh yeah and doing design projects too. Working freelance gigs for Disabled Sports up at the mountain, (sometimes the occasional face-painting event) and flyers for Footloose. I will be going river rafting with Disabled Sports in a couple of weeks- I'll keep you updated.

What else. oh yes... My friend Jen rescued a cat from the pound. I named it Little Slut. Trust me- it suits her perfectly.

I am still trying to learn how to JUMP off jumps and crawl out of the half pipe. oh geez. Learning switch and of course trying to land this little 180 off this tiny bumb in the road off the top... the list goes on.

AND last but not least, someone special has come into my life... His name is Colin. He has been teaching me how to ski, brings brownies on the chairlift, takes me on an 1.5 hour hiking adventure in the middle of the night to find a hotspring that we know is out there somewhere. AND is really good at making me laugh and smile on a consistent basis.

Needless to say I am one of the luckiest girls in the world :)
I am so happy that I've even resorted to dancing with the alarm goes off every morning.

What was meant to be a 3 day ski- demo weekend turned into 2.5 weeks of pure downhill fun. I decided to stay in Mammoth and enjoy all of it's best features. Days of clean air, snowy hilltops, snowballs, and friends to laugh with- oh and the occasional blue grass band to share my yeehaaws and hoos with. Many of the nights were spent warm- watching movies, eating a barrel of red vines, laughing, random comments, jacuzzis, singin' country out loud in the car with Kama, Nik and Willies (my favorite :), and yes, more red vines. We were even blessed with a brilliant act of showmanship involving an Aussie and a $20 phone that just wouldn't break and don't forget the daily task of listing what a ninja can and can't do (willing to do) and such. Funny story, but had to be there.

Not only did Mammoth give me good times, fresh tracks, pre-ski dance parties in the car (and on the lift) and the occasional tomahawk down the mountain (thank you Ninja Cliff for the rescue/laugh-WITH factor involved), but it also brought a sense of inspiration and happiness to the table that I am eager to explore. The ship that has been sailing around the world is ready for a rest. I am walking off the plank into a rickety town with new adventures and staying put. (For now :)

Thank you Jeremy, Kama, Ninja Cliff, Colin, Corilynn, and Jordan for time well spent and not forgotten- definitely not forgotten.

Today I felt freedom at my fingertips, inspiration in my toes, and happiness between my ears. It all started with a warm cupcake in one hand and handlebars in the other. I was going for a bike ride...

Inspired to pedal, I started riding... listening to my ipod and singing out loud along the way. My apologizes to an any civilians that may have overheard in passing. With the wind twirling my pony tail I decided to be adventurous and find a new route into town. "I'll follow the beach homes.. there must be a road that goes thru!" So I tried. So close yet- no... I was shut down. The 'no trespassing sign' and video camera threat was enough for me to second guess whether or not I just should go for it. The real kicker was the lovely arrangement of boulders that I was going to have to climb down (with my 50 lb beach cruiser) and the protected marshland/river mouth leading out to the ocean that I would have to cross. Normally I would have no problem considering such an adventure, but the thought of seeing myself 'caught on tape' while crossing a small body of water filled with endangered frogs and protected bugs with a beach cruiser over my head to save 15 minutes seemed a bit extreme. So. I went back and around... I know.. doesn't make for a good story, but I DID try. :)

After my small detour it was smooth sailing from that point on. Well smooth sailing until I reach the hill of death in Summerland! I've always hated that hill. It never seems to get shorter or easier, merely just a pain in the ass- literally. Finally I reached the top and stopped. I was craving my chilled ice tea that I had been staring at for 20 minutes while riding- up. ahhh never had tea tasted sooo good and well deserved!!! 1 1/2 later I had arrived, plopped myself on the grass, and enjoyed the rest of the afternoon in the company of local artists/friends at the Sunday Art Fair..

The ride home was a breeze.
I was all smiles with the wind in my favor and a sunset worth looking back at.
...dang, another perfect sunny day in SB.

My stay here at Club Med has given me an amazing opportunity to be a kid and just have fun. I have hooked arms with hundreds of kids over the months, and most I have no problem saying goodbye to and smiling as they leave the grounds. None the less, there has been a few hair-pulling sweethearts that I fell in love with and well... have just sort of stuck.
From mud fights to swim lessons... I've done it all.

Well.... I knew someday that I would be joining the circus, but did I ever think that it would include wearing a 4 year olds costume, dancing in a gecko plastered classroom, in Florida of all places and calling it my job? Heck no.

80's Prom Night!!!

Surprise me Night!!! It's 80's Prom.
Back to the good times where music was something you could actually dance to. It was a fabulous night of gold dresses, poofy sleeves, blue hair (don't I look cute) hoop earings, sholderpads!!! ereweeweeeeeewwww gross, and bangs with no rules. We danced the night away... even the school geek (Nick) showed up for a good time and got his groove on.

Indeed a lovely loot of events took place on July 1st. I turned 29... wohohoo! Canada celebrated it's birthday and the rest is buried treasure on club med island.

heeum.

To start things off- just want to say, I had an ear to ear grin from June 30th around midnight until the following midnight a day later. If that makes any sense I don't know, but you get the gist. My roommate and friend Marie Eve decorated my room with birthday bashidies in pirate theme and lots of balloons and streamers. A surprise me bag- yikes! Actually consisted of a jump rope, play dough, bubbles, and cracker jacks. Exciting eh? I like.

And because I am privileged to be working with kids all day, I was blessed with a lunch time "happy to birthday to you..." in full force. The day continued on with surprise me 3D chalk drawings (3D glasses mandatory) and an A-Team effort on my Happy Birthday Queen Pirate Linsey T-shirt!!! * see photo. Picasso is jealous my friends.

After work we celebrate with an icy beer, dinner, the pirate show and then the PARRRRTTTYYY began!

Lots of dancing, drinking, and dare dashing fun!

All in all it was a fabulous day I am one lucky
chickita to have so many friends to smile with.

A Visit to the KEYS!

So far so good.

I love being informed that i am going on a road trip- no questions, this is what we are doing and you are coming.

So I said "ok"

The plan was to drive to Key Largo and stay the night Tuesday night... by the way the drive was insanely adventures. The begining of the drive was great! We had the top down cruzin' along no problems. Until it started to rain. Yeah. Crazy thunder and lightning storms. Hmmm. We at that point decided that it would be a good idea to pull over and put the top back on the car.

Once we got that scenerio taken care of, Key Largo was only moments away and we were hungry, excited, and silently we were praying, PLEASE be sunny tomorrow. Key Largo is VERY smalll and well a ghost town. Since we got there so late (10:30ish) not really much in the way of fine dining was open. So we asked: we had 2 options. The Waffle House, or this Italian/Greek hole in the wall. We pleasantly decided on the Italian hole which by the way was FANTASTIC!!!! Hill. if you still worked for Bon Apetit I would say write em up! I had the BEST chicken parmasean sandwich in my life and garlic cheese bread too. OHHH my goodness gracious, crazy slap me silly. It was delish.

After a good long meal we snuck into the jacuzzi after hours- relaxed, and smiled.

Wednesday we officially made it to the sand- a resorty kind of place that welcomed tourists. Pefect! Bronzing was our priority, and then jet skiing. Patty and I Went jet skiing!!! It was soooo much fun.

As for the drive home it was hot and quiet.
We capped the night off with a sushi dinner and mud pie, all while enjoying our nice tans.

Twinkle twinkle little... oh my gosh it's a 7 foot tall teddy bear, Raggedy Ann and a whole army of toy soldiers coming my way!

Last night was dream night and everyone capped the night off with a princess reading storybooks underneath the stars. Mind you these stories came from no ordinary books, but huumuunngoouusss 4 foot tall books and letters bigger than my hand. Never in a million years did I think that I would be involved in setting up a bedroom outside under the stars on a helicopter landing pad next to the river watching the boats go by and thunder in the distance.

Clearly I'm must be dreaming.

Thunder, Lightning, and Clowns

Today I fancied a visit to the circus tent.. after all I had to see what the all the talk was about. The head clowns were teaching the guests how to swing from a trapeze, connect arms with someone swinging at them, release, and tuck. Well. It wasn't the most graceful sight, but it was a fabulous means of entertainment. Remember your first experience on a rope swing? Daring to jump off the biggest rock and do a perfect back tuck. Lone behold the exact opposite happens and you find yourself upside down facing sideways, legs scissoring the sky clinching every bone in your body because you know, hitting the water is going to be just that bad. Watching the trapeze was just that. Bad for them but entertaining for the rest of us...especially imagining half of them as self proclaimed mortgage brokers and lawyers from New York. Ha!

Mid tuck, the sky decided to open up and the thunder came a rollin'. It rained so hard I could barely see my hand in front of my face. While the lawyers ran to hide the clowns continued to jump into the nets, having a great time on their new found slip and slide. So I sat in the rain, continuously following the river down my nose and into my lap watching all of th fun go down. Me- totally happy and really excited to learn how to swing from a trapeze.
